South Charlotte Babe Ruth

For Fall of 2017, we will offer Babe Ruth for the following age groups:

Registration is now open for SCRA Fall 13-16 year-old baseball teams.  This fall, we will be playing against teams from the Charlotte Little League system consisting of Lake Norman, Coul Oak, Mint Hill, Myers Park, Dilworth, Steele Creek, South Park, Rock Hill, North West, University East, Weddington and MARA.  The age divisions are slightly different than we've experienced in the past.  13s and 14s will play together in the junior division and 15s and 16s will play together in the senior division.

Note that our home field location has changed and we will now be playing on the (lighted) Quail Hollow Middle School field near the intersection of Park and Johnston Roads this Fall for our 13-16 year-old age group.

Games will likely start in Mid-September and complete the last weekend in October.  Once registration has been open for a couple weeks and we have a better idea of numbers, we will advise on try-outs, practices.  Please sign up ASAP if you're interested in playing so we can gauge potential numbers of teams.

During season, you can expect on average: 1 game per weekday, 1 game on Saturday and 1 practice per week.

South Charlotte Recreation Association provides Babe Ruth as our highest level league for our rec league players. Babe Ruth is intended for players aged 13-16 years as of 4/30/2018, but players who are baseball age 12 may play in Babe Ruth.

Games and practices will be at Quail Hollow Middle School or fields close to that location

Due to the rising costs and time commitments of “Club Baseball Teams”, SCRA Babe Ruth is focused on developing into a quality alternative to these club teams, at a fraction of the cost.  Our desire is to field competitive teams that compete for the regular season crown against a very strong field of teams and further, to place as many players as possible on the all-start team which will compete on the summer tournament trail which includes: State Tournament (early-mid July), the Southeast Regional Tournament (late July), and the Babe Ruth World Series (early Aug).

Babe Ruth is structured VERY differently from the divisions at the younger ages. Please click here for important information regarding the differences between majors and Babe Ruth programs. If you have further program related questions after reading the information presented below, please contact Rob Stealey, Babe Ruth coordinator, by clicking .

Sport Fee: $280

SC Provides: Jersey, Cap, and Socks
Required equipment: Bat, Batting Helmet, Baseball mitt, baseball pants, protective athletic cup (for male players). While SC does not REQUIRE helmets to be equipped with a protective facemask, the league recommends such equipment.

We are always looking for eager parents who are interested in coaching! The more coaches we have, the better the experience of the players. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Rob Stealey, Babe Ruth Coordinator, by clicking  .
