PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
South Charlotte Recreation Association provides 10U Softball as a mid-level program for our players. For the Fall season, players should be 9 or 10 years old on June 30 of same year. For Spring softball, players should be 9 or 10 years old on preceding December 31.
Registration $200.
EQUIPMENT:
Uniforms: SCRA provides jersey, belt and socks.
Effective Spring 2018, Softball pants will no longer be provided by SCRA. Please purchase solid WHITE girl's/women's softball pants. Softball pants fit more snugly than baseball pants. Expect softball pants to be fitted, but not constricting, with the hem falling below the knee.
Required equipment: softball glove and helmet (with cage) and fielding face-mask (for playing in the infield)
Recommended equipment: Rubber cleats and a bat. Metal cleats are not allowed.
SEASON:
If there are enough players to form more than one team, teams will be formed following player evaluations. Spring practices begin in late February with the Spring season ending tournament finishing in mid-May. Fall practices begin mid-August with the Fall season ending tournament finishing in early November. 8U & 10U weekday games begin at 6pm, usually finishing by 7:30. 13U & older games usually begin at 7:30pm. Weekend games are all played during the day on Saturday and Sunday. All teams have 10 regular season games and participate in a season ending double elimination tournament.
Our home field is at Olde Providence Elementary School. We also will play away games at other associations affiliated with Char-Meck Softball. These include: Pineville, Myers Park, South Park, Mint Hill, Weddington, Steele Creek, Matthews, Porter Ridge, and Indian Trail.
